Do you want business today or business tomorrow? Sales vs. Marketing.

Do you struggle with trying to grow your business? I think it is a very common practice to make the mistake I used to make. You know, by sometimes confusing sales with marketing.

If you want business today, you have to go out and sell something (close a deal). If you are a master sales person or have master sales people on staff, this isn't a problem. If you are a mediocre sales person, this is a problem and I recommend getting help right away. Talk to someone over at Kurlan if you want some sales help.

If your sales team rocks, then maybe the solution is setting up a better lead generation system. These days we recommend starting with an inbound marketing system. An inbound marketing system includes SEO, Blogging, Analytics, Social Media, Lead Generation, and Lead Nurturing among other things.

The point here is this inbound marketing fills the funnel and sales skills turns these leads into clients. One without the other is not a good solution. I see businesses try this all the time.

Remember, if you want business today, close some deals. If you want ongoing business fill your funnel through inbound marketing.
