Social Media becomes curriculum for MBA students

My how the world is changing. As I am out on the streets talking to businesses about jumping onboard with inbound marketing (blogging, social media, SEO), most think this is just some crazy fad.

Yes, maybe your kids are doing all kind of crazy things on Twitter, Facebook, & Myspace, but this is not the only thing these tools can do. Think of it like the copy machine, your kid might pull their pants down and scan their butt and make copies to pass out to friends, but this is not the only use of this tool. You probably use a copier on a regular basis. This is the same result of social media. Do not get caught up in how your kid uses this stuff. Think about how it can be a big part of reaching a new target audience of customers.

The big business schools are seeing how social media needs to be added to the MBA curriculum since it is not only for marketers, but also for CEO and others within the company. The New York Times wrote a great article on this topic in March called Bussiness Schools Respond to Demand for Use of Social Media. Click the link to go to this article and read it for yourself. For those naysayers out there, it might really bring to light how big social media is becoming.
