If you do any type of online marketing for your organization you probably know about Hubspot's Marketing Grader tool (previously the website grader tool).
If you are not familiar with this tool you might want to check it out: Hubspot Marketing Grader.
If you are familiar with this tool… what is your website grade? In the past we have gotten many websites into the 90%+ range. Often times we get clients up to 70+ fairly quickly (3 to 6 months). Depending upon how active the client is in all the areas needed to be successful online, will determine what their website grade is able to get to.
I have one client stuck at 70 something because they have no interest in building a social media presence. I have had others also get stuck in the 60's or 70's because they just weren't serious about creating good content.
Recently though, I started a music site. If you know me, you may have heard me talking about it before. The site is called Sound Convictions and it covers three main areas in music: 1. Community, 2. 'Zine, & 3. Resources. My goal is to create a music community of fans who love sharing music with others, and a resource for fans looking to find new music. The 'Zine is really the content marketing side of the site. This is where myself and several other writers will deliver news, views and reviews of music. This will be in blog form and as a digital newspaper we are curating. Lastly is the resources, this is not only for fans, but also for bands, venues, labels and other music industry types. One of the resources we are adding is a music directory for these people to get listed.
We created this site 2 months ago (July 12th I think) and we have put out a ton of new content. We've had several writers help with content and we have started to build a pretty strong social media presence for the site.
So how did we go from 0 to 81% in this short time? Well, one thing we did was set the site up right from the start. We optimized the site as we built it. We listed it in the search engines, we commented on a few blogs, but the thing that did the most for the site was content. It looks as though the site has 112 pages indexed in the search engines. That's something like 2 pages per day if it was 60 days ago when we started. These numbers are off a little bit, but what if we published 3 to 5 articles a week for two months? That still is a lot of content. This makes the search engines take notice. Of course because we are starting from scratch we have a long way to go before we get all our traffic going through the roof.
But if we are able to keep up the regular pace of several articles a week, we certainly will not only have a great website grade, but also much success. This includes a huge following, maximized lead generations and some new clients.
If you run a marketing grader report and find that you get a 10%, 20%, or 30% we really need to talk. Brandwise can help get you a passing grade in just a few months if you are serious about this kind of growth. Remember though website grade is one thing, but cash in hand is a whole other conversation. So let's get your website scoring high then show you how to turn that new content in to cash!
