- Accordion Fold
- In binding, a term used to describe a series of parallel fold, each opening opposite the next.
- Against the Grain
- Across the Grain. The dirrection perpendicular, or at a right angle, to the dirrection in which the fibers of a piece of paper lie. For good book-binding, folding with the grain is recommended.
- Agate
- An outdated name for a size of type slightly smaller than five and one half points; used now primarily in magazines and newspapers to measure ads.
- Align
- To line up, letters, words or images on the same horizontal or verticle line.

- Bad Break
- In typesetting, the setting of an incorrectly hyphenated line. Also used for starting a page with a widow.
- Baronial Envelope
- A square envelope, usually used for announcements, formal correspondence, and greeting cards.
- Baseline
- In composition, the line on which the bottoms of letters rest, exclusive of descenders that fall below the baseline. An imaginary line on which a line of type rests.
