Branding Tips to Increase Sales

Have sales been down, but you hate talking to marketing people?

Posted by Dale Berkebile on Tue, Oct 18, 2011

If sales are down or you just have bigger goals for revenue growth for your company, but just not sure what to do, you may be in luck. SMARKETING may be the new solution. What is Smarketing you may be asking yourself?

Over the last 6 or 7 years my #1 goal was to look for ways to get the best ROI for my clients marketing budget. Think about it, if I can prove we are getting results, this makes the client happy and they continue to market allowing us to help them build a strong brand. Branding does not happen with one sign, direct mailer or website, it is an ongoing, evolving process that builds the company's reputation over time.

Now this sounds selfish and one-sided, it isn't. Of course we do benefit from our client's success, but the true goal is making our customers successful. I hear business owners complain all the time about sales being down and this is both in good times or bad times. If sales are down, what are you going to do about it? Continue to do what you have always done? If your annual sales growth seems to be alluding you year after year, what are you going to do about it?

A lot of times CEOs and business owners know they need to add marketing to the mix. They also all know that those marketing guys usually promise the world and deliver none of the promises. So how do you over come this? How do you find the marketing firm that has given up the snake oil to really focus on being held accountable?

Let me tell you a story. For years now we have been trying to deliver results for our clients. One thing I realized over time was in order for us to deliver on the promises we were making we needed more and more control. If we do not have control over how leads are managed, nurtured or when they are called, it is hard for us to deliver specific sales growth for a company. Just like some larger companies, the sales and marketing team were not on the same page. We were working in silos.

So how do you get Sales and Marketing to work together? This is where SMARKETING comes in. You see in order to create true growth for a company you need both sales and marketing to be working together, focused on heading down the same path. This is why we created a new service to help overcome ineffective marketing or low sales numbers. How would you like to work with a branding firm that understands if we do not get you quick wins and are able to track and prove our results, you are not going to build a brand or stick around.

Well, our new SMARKETING program delivers sales team evaluations, hiring and firing if needed and ongoing training to keep your sales team sharp. This program also offers training to help your sales team understand inbound marketing and how to work inbound marketing leads. Add to this a sales process that is easy to follow and the sales team will be on fire, right? You bet!

If you have marketing set up to generate leads for and work closely with the sales team, you will be much more successful. We are all working towards the same goal… bringing in new business and building a brand that makes it easier to find, convert and keep customers. The marketing will help you create thought leaders within your industry, from some of your internal team including your sales team, CEO and others within the company.

Does this sound different than most marketing companies? Does it sound like something you would like to learn more about? Well if so, give us a call or sign up for a free consultation with one of our top sales trainers and top marketing experts for a free SMARKETING Consultation.
