I have taken on this reinvention process many times to build the company "I wanted." Many times this was for selfish reasons driven by ego. I wanted to be cool and have this great company who was the top in my industry. Ok, so this is all great, but how long can you continue to feed your ego without big wins for others. What I have found is that the more I change the more I become my best customer.
Was does that mean? Is this another ego based change we are going through? Nope. Here is the deal Brandwise delivers GREAT design, branding and inbound marketing services (I know… I'm really full of myself, right?), but what I found is this is not enough and because of this I am making some changes. I am going to keep all of Brandwise's offerings but I will not lead with them anymore.
I have found that just like in my own business… GREAT design, branding and inbound marketing is JUST NOT ENOUGH. I realized that in order to reach my big dreams I needed to change again. This time because I can not honestly work with clients on marketing and branding alone. I can not take the money of clients if I am not truly helping them with what they are coming to me for and it is not marketing, it is… real business growth.
So what does this mean? Well in order to be a Brandwise client we are recommending and soon will be demanding you start in a different place. I do not want to talk logos, SEO, facebook, direct mail or the like. There is a time and place for all of these items, but not now. Now we should be defining what are your true sales and growth goals and why do you have these. We should also answer the question about how passionate for change are you. Are you willing to do whatever it takes? Many aren't and these will not be our customers. If you are not passionate for change, then you are no longer a good fit for Brandwise.
So where do we go from here? Back to square one, back to the drawing board, back to reinventing the new and improved business development tools that Brandwise will offer. This will include doing Sales Assessments on our client's sales people/teams, establishing a sales system or process to get consistent results for the sales people/teams, and sales training to continue to build this side of the puzzle.
Here's what it comes down to… there are a ton of small businesses out there who are struggling and do not know how to figure this "GROWTH" problem out. Because of this, we are going to add the same growth strategies we have used at Brandwise. We will help reinvent our clients into effective powerhouses within their industry. We are going to help them get the tools and knowledge to be a sales machine and help them build a sales force that is part of the marketing team. Then and only then will we roll out some of the marketing tools Brandwise has built it's previous business on. We can no longer keep sales and marketing as two different departments who blame the other for all shortcomings.
So to embrace change and innovation, I have created a new site based on the new direction Brandwise is going. This new direction is called Growth Makers and obviously our goal is to create and service growth oriented companies.
